Don't Blame Benito - Why I Won't Be Watching The Superbowl Halftime Show
Bad Bunny (real name: Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) will be performing during Superbowl LX, but I won’t be watching. And here is why.
It has nothing to do with his race or ethnicity - he is native Puerto Rican. Gloria Estefan (a Cuban native) headlined the 1999 halftime show which I enjoyed. The problem is with the message he presents.
Look at just three of his songs:
Tití Me Preguntó - celebrates a promiscuous lifestyle, bragging about having sex with multiple women and marrying none.
DtMR - celebrates drug use: "I see your name and it makes me sigh, I don't know if it's fireworks or gunshots, My whitey, my cocaine, my kilo, …"
Yo Perreo Sola - features him crossdressing and twerking, highly erotic, constantly grabbing his crotch.
Based on that Godlessness he became a multiple Grammy-winning artist and the most-streamed artist on Spotify from 2020 to 2022. It is the epitome of what’s wrong in culture. And now the NFL is bringing it to the world’s largest stage. I won’t be watching - and I hope you won’t either.
But, if you agree with me, I want to caution you about something. That is, don’t blame Benito. Put the blame squarely where it belongs - on Satan. Benito, like so many others, has fallen victim to Satan’s lies and deception. He, and others like him, must be gently instructed and prayed for, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil who has taken them captive to do his will.
Let’s face this for what it is - a spiritual battle. Let’s stand up for God and Godliness in culture, and bring back a sense of humility and decency. Understand that Satan is the problem, not people, and take up the work to defeat him - spiritually.
